Online Marketing Pointers

When you’re trying to rank your website for certain keywords or phrases, you can’t sit around and wait for it to magically happen. You have to buckle down and get into some native advertising. Never heard of that? Well, it’s essentially a type of advertising that flows seamlessly within any website, meaning your ad is neither annoying nor intrusive. So, that’s just one insider tip, check out these other tips to help you on your way to being a digital advertising pro.
  1. To best market your small business on the Internet, be sure you have a plan of action first. Why have you set up your website? What goals should it help you achieve? Be clear about what you hope to achieve and how you plan to achieve it, and have a way to keep track of your progress towards your goals.
  2. Find a way to get your visitors to leave their email addresses and build a mailing list. Add a box to your page for people to sign up, or leave a sign up page at your physical address. Use the mailing list wisely though and avoid sending out too much mail or people will stop reading it. Make sure to include a way for people to unsubscribe as well.
  3. Search out your competitors. Finding out what similar websites are doing to increase their audience is an easy way to increase your own. Simply find out what they do, and figure out a way to do it better, more efficiently, or just differently. A little research can help you stand out.
  4. Use press releases to get traffic to your site. Submit to public release directories and wait for people to find you. The great thing about press releases is that you may even be contacted by reporters who want to talk to you about your product or service and print it in their publication.
  5. Pull out all the stops for influential people. Try to link up with well-known bloggers and websites. These powerful allies can send many a visitor in your direction, enabling you to increase traffic and productivity. Keep an eye out for these great resources, and take advantage of any friendships that may develop.
  6. When you are trying to sell your product online, make sure that you focus on the advantages that it will bring to the potential customer rather than the price that you are offering it at. Focusing predominantly on price comes across impersonal, what you want to do is highlight how your product or service improves the customer's life.
  7. When writing about your product, do not sound like a used car salesman. This means you should not use vocabulary related to buying, or to making the purchase right now before the offer ends. People are going to visit your website to learn more about the product. Convince them to buy it by presenting it in an honest way.
  8. See if you can get your site linked from .edu or .gov websites. The search engines rank content and links coming from these domains with a lot of weight and credibility. Having your link included in one of those sites will get you credibility by association. These links can be difficult to get, but are worth a shot!

This is simply a crash course in web advertising basics. You’re not expected to outrank the big guys out of the box, but with practice and patience, you’ll see your website on the first page of Google sooner than you think.
